The following results were obtained in an independently conducted head to head blind taste test by Savanta Group Limited in December 2019.

Methodology:

Tests conducted in controlled conditions on 16th December 2019 at Hoddesdon and 17th December 2019 at Manchester.

Each participant was provided with a 150ml sample of each liquid in an unbranded and unnucleated glass. The liquid was poured from a chilled bottle at fridge temperature (3-6 0c) for each head to head test. All participants took two head-to-head preference tests:

  • Carlsberg Export vs. Stella Artois
  • Carlsberg Export vs. Peroni

 

Consumer profile:

227 Premium lager drinkers* – defined by being a regular drinker of one or more of the most popular premium lager brands

In attribute comparison tests:

60% agreed that Carlsberg Expørt taste smoother, 32% agreed that Peroni tastes smoother & 8% agreed that there was no difference between the two.

55% agreed that Carlsberg Expørt is more refreshing, 36% agreed that Peroni is more refreshing & 9% agreed there was no difference between the two.

51.5% agreed that Carlsberg Expørt taste smoother, 40.5% agreed that Stella Artois tastes smoother & 8% agreed that there was no difference between the two.
